What inspired you to create ATELIER MATERI?
Atelier Materi was born from a desire to return to what perfume should truly be: a craft guided by authenticity, elegance, and respect for raw materials. After more than a decade shaping products for other brands, I realized that the corporate world often limits creativity. Market trends, tight deadlines, and financial pressures can make fragrances beautiful on the surface, yet disconnected from depth, meaning, and true creative intention. I wanted something more genuine, more human, and more thoughtful.
How does Atelier Materi approach niche perfumery differently?
At Atelier Materi, our work begins with matter itself, the raw ingredients that give each creation its character. I am fascinated by materials in their pure, unrefined state: tonka bean, rare woods, exquisite absolutes. But the true beauty of these materials comes alive in the way we combine, shape, and contrast them. Each fragrance is built like a carefully designed space, where textures, volumes, and subtleties interact to create depth and emotion.
What does elegance mean for you in perfumery?
Elegance for us is rooted in restraint and precision. It is not about excess, but about giving every ingredient the space to reveal its full richness. Raw materials are respected, celebrated, and transformed through thoughtful associations that bring out unexpected facets. This is the essence of our niche approach: perfumes that are not just scents, but experiences, moments of beauty that unfold slowly, deliberately, and without compromise.
ATELIER MATERI is also about the object, can you tell us more?
Beyond the perfume itself, ATELIER MATERI is a multi-sensory project. Each creation exists within an object: a bottle, a cap, a collector’s item that echoes the landscapes that inspire us. From the dark blue of the ocean after a storm to the concrete cap polished like a Brittany pebble, every detail is designed to complement and enhance the fragrance, creating a complete sensory journey.
How important are integrity and responsibility in your work?
They are central. Our raw materials are sourced ethically, our partnerships transparent, and every gesture in the creation process intentional. We do not rush. We let beauty unfold at its own pace. This is niche perfumery at its heart: a space where time, craftsmanship, and the essence of matter come together, where creativity is free yet precise, and where each fragrance tells a story uniquely its own.
