Tara Msellati, floral artist
We had the pleasure of collaborating with Tara on the creation of a pop-up store at the Samaritaine and the design of a showcase at the niche perfume boutique Jovoy Paris. Tara’s botanical scenography beautifully highlighted our new perfume Cèdre Figalia, a vegetal woody fragrance designed as an ode to Nature. She perfectly captured the essence & the spirit of our perfume using natural elements of wood and plants.
We are thrilled to present her exceptional work and share this unique experience with you.
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
Hello! In a few words, I am a young mom with 8 years of experience working in the flower industry. I have worked on a variety of artistic projects in the luxury, art, and fashion sectors.
What does your job consist of?
My role consists of imagining and constructing floral and plant installations in various styles and designs. From selecting the perfect flowers and plants to arranging them in aesthetically pleasing ways, my job involves a combination of creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. I work closely with clients to understand their vision and bring it to life through my expertise in floral and plant design.
Can you tell us about your collaboration with Atelier Materi?
I was fortunate to be introduced to Atelier Materi and we quickly found a strong alignment in our tastes and visions for showcasing their exquisite bottles in the most captivating manner possible.
How did you come up with this display?
We came up with this display by brainstorming together. I had previously done an installation that the team really liked, and we decided to use that as inspiration. The main focus of the display was on natural materials such as wood and plants. The goal was to create a visually appealing and cohesive design that showcased the beauty of these elements.
What are your sources of inspiration?
I find inspiration in the vibrant colors of paintings, the unique structures found in contemporary exhibitions, and the storytelling in movies. Often, one idea will spark another, leading to a chain reaction of creativity. Additionally, I draw inspiration from my dreams, where the subconscious mind can sometimes reveal unexpected and innovative concepts. The endless possibilities of the brain never cease to amaze me.
What are the challenges that need to be faced in this type of project?
The challenges often revolve around logistical issues. For instance, sourcing ingredients can prove to be quite complex, especially considering the varying availability of flowers and plants depending on the season.
Additionally, adaptability and improvisation may be required depending on the specific setup of the project. In fact, my assistants have humorously dubbed me “Mac Gyver”.
What makes the display successful in your opinion?
Through the harmonious blend of natural colors and the unique plant integration that enhances the concrete elements. The suspended branch draws the viewer’s attention, inspiring observation and sparking curiosity.
What is your relationship with perfume?
I love delicate, subtle fragrances.
For years, I have exclusively worn a perfume from Fragonard that features orange blossom as its main scent. However, I may soon choose to switch to a different scent – who knows…
A final word?
Thank you Atelier Materi for all these beautiful collaborations!
