Cèdre Figalia, the perfumer’s word
The creator of the Brand desired a fragrance that would beautifully reflect the essence of nature in all their forms. Could you please explain how you successfully captured her inspiration in this perfume?
With Véronique, we aimed to create a woody green note that would exude a vibrant and fresh quality, as if filled with sap. Drawing inspiration directly from the raw materials and their resonance they have in me, I sought to capture their essence. To bring this woody fragrance to life, I combined a duo of green fig plant and tannic notes from Brazilian maté craftivity®, exclusively sourced from COSMO INTERNATIONAL FRAGRANCES. These carefully selected components beautifully embody the naturalness of this extraordinary raw material. The spinach absolute adds a final touch to the sap accord with its fluid, watery, and “chlorophyll” aspects, completing the composition.
What choices have you made in the construction of the fragrance? Can you explain it to us?
I aimed to generate a sense of tension and motion for this trail. The vibration and organic qualities of CEDAR, intensified by the aromatic elements of Jamaican pimento, embodied one perspective. The other focal point was the accord of FIG LEAF, which resembled a freshly crushed leaf, accompanied by the herbal nuances of basil and the refreshing tone of bergamot.
How does your love for plants influence your creative and olfactory choices?
My passion for plants means that I go beyond their simple olfactory signature. When I contemplate a raw material, all my senses come alive, with touch being particularly heightened. This sensitivity enables me to create with different textures and play with contrasts in my creations.
Why did you decide to work with three different varieties of Cedar?
To bring this woody signature to life, I wanted to combine the fascinating aspects of three different varieties of cedar, each with their own unique identity. First, the Virginia cedar brings all the energy of a characteristic woody note, dry, crystalline, and vibrant. To this, I wanted to add the nobility of the Atlas cedar, , hailing from Morocco, with its slightly smoky “bark” aspect, which brings the sensuality of sun-warmed skin. Lastly, I added the very special qualities of the Alaska cedar for its more raw signature, reminiscent of smoked thyme notes that link to the aromatic dimension of the fragrance.
